Sustainable Water Management

Sustainable Water Management and Drainage Design

Sustainable water management embraces the physical management of rainfall to avoid, or at least minimise, the demand for water and the potential pollution threat to natural waterways caused by urbanisation.

Often relatively simple water management strategies can help to prevent flooding, assist in re-use via harvesting and improve water quality. We believe sustainable water management should also extend well beyond this as a critical integrated component of the greater environmental sustainability system that addresses broader issues such as improving biodiversity, reducing urban heat island effects and carbon footprint reduction and creating amenity.

In the field of Sustainable Drainage EPG in the United Kingdom are internationally recognised trainers, working closely and partner with organisations such as the Construction Industry Research and Information Association (CIRIA) and the Environmental Agency (EA) to provide workshops and introduce new design methods and disseminate best practice. EPG has contributed to the development of much of the current UK guidance relating to sustainable water management, bio-diversity and place making and provides best-practice dissemination and training in these disciplines and we have an excellent track record in the delivery of exemplary, innovative designs.
